Nikolai Nikolaevich Kuznetsov was born on December 26, 1994, in Moscow, into a family of musicians. His father, Nikolai Vasilyevich Kuznetsov, was a bayan maker, and his mother, Irina Nikolaevna Kuznetsova, was a piano teacher and accompanist who was awarded the Honorary Badge "Parental Glory of the City of Moscow".
Nikolai has won numerous international and national competitions. He graduated from the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, where he studied under Professor S. L. Dorensky. After that, he completed an assistantship-internship under the guidance of S. L. Dorensky, A. A. Pisarev, and N. L. Lugansky. Previously, he studied at the Gnessin Music School under the guidance of Associate Professor T. G. Shklovskaya.
During his studies, Kuznetsov was a scholarship recipient and participated in concert programs organized by organizations such as the Vladimir Spivakov International Charitable Foundation, the Yuri Rozum Foundation, the Vozvrashchenie Foundation for Cultural Development, the Moscow Public Culture Foundation, and the Elena Ivanovna Roerich Charitable Foundation. He actively participated in the cultural programs of the Roerich International Center and was awarded the Future of Russia Prize, scholarships from the Moscow Government and the President of the Russian Federation, as well as a grant from the PricewaterhouseCoopers network of companies.
His victories include the Golden Ring of Chopin International Piano Competition in Slovenia, the S. V. Rachmaninoff International Piano Competition in Frankfurt am Main, the e Muse International Music Competition in Athens, the Astana Piano Passion International Classical Music Festival and Piano Competition in Astana, the Virtuoso-2015 International Festival of Romantic Music for Young Musicians in Moscow, the YAMAHA MUSIC AWARD Moscow Festival, and the Panama City International Piano Competition.
In 2018, Nikolai became the overall winner of the XXIII Ricardo Viñes International Piano Competition in Spain, receiving the first prize and all the special awards. In September 2019, he won first place at the Wandering Music Stars International Piano Competition in Tel Aviv, where the jury was led by Israeli pianist Arie Vardi and included renowned musicians such as Dmitry Alekseyev, Emanuel Krasovsky, Farhad Badalbeyli, and Tomer Lev.
In June 2021, Kuznetsov won the Grand Prix of the prestigious Monte Carlo Piano Masters competition in Monaco, where the jury was led by pianist Barry Douglas. The award ceremony took place at the Monte Carlo Opera House, and Prince Rainier III of Monaco presented him with the Prince Rainier III Award.
The pianist participated in the jubilee music marathon dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Franz Liszt, as well as in the Primorsky Key festivals in Vladivostok, Music is Our Common Home in Kharkov, European Concerts in St. Petersburg, Outstanding Pianists of the XXI Century in Bogota, the international music festival in Kyoto, the Deye International Music Festival, the Pianissimo International Piano Festival at the Hermitage, the Bucaramanga International Piano Festival, the Beethoven International Music Festival and the GIOVANI TALENTI RUSSI music project in Italy.
As a soloist, Kuznetsov has performed with such orchestras as the E. F. Svetlanov State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia, the Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra, the State Hermitage Orchestra, the State Academic Chamber Orchestra of Russia, the State Academic Symphony Capella of Russia, the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, the Primorsky Opera and Ballet Theater Symphony Orchestra, the Kuban Symphony Orchestra, the Academic Symphony Orchestra the Orchestra of the Kharkiv Regional Philharmonic, the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Lugansk Philharmonic, the Ural State Academic Philharmonic Orchestra, the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Samara State Philharmonic, the Vallès Symphony Orchestra, the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra.
Nikolay Kuznetsov has toured solo concerts in Russia, Spain, Italy, Estonia, Germany, France, Japan and South America. He also participated in the federal program of the Moscow Philharmonic "Stars of the 21st Century" with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
