The choir was founded in 1928 as the Vocal Ensemble of the All-Union Radio Committee. The founder and first artistic director was A. V. Sveshnikov. The choir was repeatedly renamed, among the names: the All-Union Radio Committee Choir, the All-Union Radio Great Choir, the Academic Great Choir of Central Television and All-Union Radio and others. Since 2005, the Academic Grand Choir "Masters of Choral Singing", Artistic Director - L.Z. Kontorovich.
