The album includes four masterpieces of violin music performed by world famous violin virtuoso Sergei Stadler. He recorded this program of “hits” of the violin classics (Poème by Ernest Chausson, Havanaise and Introduction et Rondo capriccioso by Saint-Saëns, and Tzigane by Ravel) when he was 25 years old. By that time, he was already the winner of several international competitions and played more than a hundred concerts a year around the world. The brilliant works for violin and orchestra fully reveal Stadler’s outstanding talent: the magnificent sound of his violin and his technical skills of the highest order. The recordings were made at the Grand Hall of the Leningrad Philharmonic Society and feature the Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Ponkin.
