In the Igor Stravinsky anniversary year, Melodiya re-releases the 1980 record made by the Bolshoi Chamber Ensemble conducted by Alexander Lazarev. The program includes works written between 1914 and 1918 at the junction of the “Russian” and “neoclassicist” periods (the suite from The Soldier’s Tale, Pribaoutki (Pleasant Songs), Ragtime) and the Septet, which opens the composer’s late period and marks his departure from neoclassicism towards freely interpreted dodecaphony.
