Firma Melodiya continues the series of digital releases of previously unknown historical audio recordings from its archive.
This album contains recordings of the first two concerts of the outstanding French conductor Serge Baudo that took place in March 1964.
Although the then 36-year-old conductor of the Paris Opera had appeared at La Scala and showed his worth as a composer, his name was completely new for the Moscow public at that time. The young maestro, together with the USSR State Symphony Orchestra and the Moscow State Philharmonic Orchestra, appeared with a bright and varied program dominated by French music of the 20th century (Dukas, Debussy, Ravel, Roussel, Dutilleux). Some of the works were performed in Moscow for the first time.
