The album with music by French composers Francis Poulenc and Darius Milhaud performed by the piano duet of Galina and Yulia Turkin. The program comprises not only compositions for two pianos, including the famous Scaramouche suite by Milhaud, but also his Autumn Concertino for two pianos and instrumental ensemble. The duet of the Turkin sisters existed for over sixty years and entered the Guinness World Records as the most lasting tandem in the history of world music. The history of the ensemble included over 6,000 concerts and over 1,000 performances on radio and television, and premieres of numerous works for piano duet. After the duo’s US tour of 1994, The Valley News wrote: “The Turkin sisters play in the Russian style of the 19th century in the spirit of Rubinstein and Horowitz. It’s a tradition of strong expressive performance, a tradition that is now disappearing.”
