Sound Review is an anthology of music by Russian composers of the 20th and 21st centuries. The project was launched in 2020 by the Union of Composers of Russia together with Firma Melodiya. The 2022 Sound Review brings together music from different eras, from works by composers of the sixties to the music of contemporary young ones, some of whom have not turned thirty. This part of the third Sound Review opens an unusual timbre highway: contemporary solo music for the period instrument viola da gamba. Over the past few years, the initiative to expand its repertoire in Russia has been coming from Anton Izgagin, a musician who actively practices both period and contemporary music. All the composers (Dmitri Remezov, Anna Pospelova, Vladimir Ladomirov, Dmitri Mazurov, Natalia Prokopenko, Hrachya Yesayan) on the album wrote their works especially for him, some in immediate collaboration.
