Firma Melodiya re-releases digitally remastered recordings of cello works performed by cellist Medea Abrahamyan and pianist Roza Tandilyan.

Medea Abrahamyan was an Armenian cellist, graduate of the Moscow Conservatory, one of the students of Mstislav Rostropovich, and the first performer of almost all new cello works by Armenian composers.

The album includes Abrahamyan’s “classical” recordings – Franz Schubert’s Arpeggione Sonata (1823), Claude Debussy’s late Sonata (1915), and dances from Sergei Prokofiev’s ballets Romeo and Juliet, Cinderella, and The Tale of the Stone Flower. The works were recorded in 1984.
