Alexander Gradsky was a legendary Russian musician: a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer. He is widely known in Russia primarily for his pop songs and music for films. To a lesser extent, the listeners are familiar with his works, operas and ballets, for musical theater. This album named Melodies is a recording of Man, Alexander Gradsky’s first ballet. The plot of the ballet is based on Rudyard Kipling’s stories about Mowgli. The score combines the best traditions of Russian symphonic classical music and rock. The recording features Alexander Gradsky’s singing – he had a unique singing voice, tenor altino. The composer also performed the parts of the electric guitar, synthesizer, and percussion.
